The British Alpine Green CPO Jacket/Shirt

The British Alpine is a refined interpretation of the classic CPO jacket shirt, combining military-inspired practicality with the exceptional character of authentic Austrian Loden. Clean in silhouette, naturally weather resistant and beautifully made, it is a highly versatile outer layer for autumn, winter and spring.

Made from genuine Loden cloth woven by Leichtfried of Austria, this is the real thing: a traditional mountain fabric with over 300 years of heritage behind it. Unlike the many imitations now on the market that blend wool with polyester, authentic Loden is prized for its natural warmth, durability and water-repellent performance. It was originally developed for Austrian herdsmen working in harsh mountain conditions, and it remains one of the finest natural outerwear fabrics available.

The British Alpine sits somewhere between a shirt jacket and a CPO jacket, making it ideal for customers who want a piece that feels both relaxed and elevated. It is light enough to layer comfortably indoors or under a coat, yet substantial enough to wear as an outer jacket in cool weather.

Trim options include either full-grain French cowbelly leather from Pechdo of France or Harris Tweed detailing, allowing you to tailor the finish to your own taste. You may also choose between traditional buttons or practical snap fasteners. As with all English Utopia garments, each piece is cut and made by us in York, which means modifications can be made to suit your preferences.
