A Timeless Travel Jacket in Exceptional Irish Linen

The Blake has become a mainstay of our collection — valued for its practicality, character, and ease of wear across seasons. While it exists as a heavier Autumn/Winter garment, this version is re-imagined as a beautifully light, unlined Spring/Summer jacket, cut from 100% Irish linen woven for us by Spence Bryson.

Spence Bryson are internationally respected for producing some of the finest linen in the world, and the quality is immediately visible in the cloth. The fabric has a depth, texture, and clarity that only high-grade Irish linen possesses — substantial yet breathable, with a confident drape rather than the fragility of lighter summer linens. To enhance comfort and character, we wash the jacket twice before delivery, giving it a softened handle and a relaxed, lived-in feel from the outset.

The design is modelled on an original French hunting jacket from the 1950s, retaining its purposeful pocket layout while refining the silhouette for modern wear. The Blake is designed to be genuinely useful, whether travelling, walking, or worn day to day.

Practical detailing includes:

Four large lower outer pockets

A smaller upper pocket ideal for a phone

A rear double-opening “game” pocket (now more often used for maps, gloves, or travel essentials)

An internal zipped security pocket for valuables

The jacket is unlined and constructed using French seam methods, resulting in an interior that is exceptionally clean and refined to the eye, with no visible overlocking. This approach keeps the jacket light, breathable, and comfortable in warm conditions.

The collar is trimmed in 100% cotton needlecord, sourced from Kindermann, adding subtle texture and comfort at the neckline. The jacket is finished with corozo nut buttons, supplied by Courtney Buttons, chosen for their durability and natural character.

Available in a wide range of colours, selectable from the drop-down menu, the Blake Irish Linen Jacket can be tailored to individual preference. And as with everything we make, it is entirely handcrafted by us in the UK, from pattern cutting through to final finishing.
