We set out to make a wax jacket from the very best of everything, whatever the price..As a maker of luxury outerwear, it stands to reason that we we would want to  'showcase' what the best can be. 99% of the time, even in a luxury market one has to be sensitive to price and so often it is necessary to make compromises somewhere.. But in our opinion this jacket really does contain the best of everything. It's a jacket for those who understand that high quality things cost money. 

To do this, we buy a 12oz 2 ply long staple waxed cotton from Halley Stevensons of Dundee, Scotland. Their yarn to make this waxed cotton is the best Egyptian Cotton. Most wax jacket are made in 6oz or 8oz.  This is the sort of garment that you will find in 100 years in a vintage site that has held its value.

For the lining we use the best outerwear cotton in the world. This comes from Ventile. A British fabric but actually woven in Swtizerland due to the complex machinery required. It's their L24 quality that you can read about on their website. www.ventile.co.uk 

A combination of the 12oz waxed cotton outer and the Ventile liner, make this a truly waterproof and breathable piece AND...all from natural materials.

We have gone further......Added to this is a button in/button out wool/alpaca Loden bodywarmer. Loden for those of you that might not know, is amongst the best wool outerwear fabric in the world and it comes (at least the authentic stuff does) from Austria. We buy ours from Leichtfried of Salzburg. The properties of Loden are remarkable for the incredible warmth and water repellency. you can also buy this jacket without the button out lining mentioned here and it makes a difference of £250. If this is what you prefer just type 'minuslining' in the discount code box and it will reduce the price accordingly. If you keep with the bodywarmer option, the detachable hood is also lined in Loden for a warm, snug feel.

You can also spec up further with this remarkable jacket, by adding Merino wool insulation (£200) or pure goosedown (£400) insulation at checkout. The version with the Loden bodywarmer and Goosedown insulation Will keep you warm down to -30°C and that's not a claim we might likely feedback from customers that visit or live in areas this cold on the planet.
