The Eliot Extra-Fine Merino Waterproof Coat
Pure Wool Performance in a Contemporary Silhouette
The Eliot is a rare coat — a genuinely warm, weather-protective outer layer made entirely from natural fibres, designed for those who want modern performance without synthetic materials.
If your aim is to stay warm and dry wearing only wool, in a clean, contemporary style, this coat was created precisely for that purpose.
The outer fabric is available in a choice of over 50 extra-fine Merino tweeds, woven by Lovat Mill in Scotland. These tweeds are selected for their fineness, density, and natural weather resistance, offering warmth and breathability without bulk. For those who prefer a smoother, more structured cloth, the Eliot is also available in extra-fine Merino Loden, composed of 80% extra-fine Merino wool and 20% alpaca — a fabric prized for its insulation, quiet handle, and exceptional durability.
To ensure dependable protection from wind and rain, the coat is lined in Ventile® cotton, one of the most respected natural outerwear fabrics in the world. Densely woven and breathable, Ventile forms a natural barrier against the elements while remaining comfortable across a wide range of temperatures. The combination of wool on the outside and Ventile on the inside creates a coat that is warm, weatherproof, and naturally regulating — without membranes or synthetics.
The Eliot is cut in a modern, understated silhouette, making it suitable for everyday wear in urban or rural settings. It layers easily over knitwear or tailoring, offering versatility without excess weight or stiffness.
Finishing details are kept purposeful and refined. The coat is fastened with English-made real horn buttons, chosen for their strength, natural character, and longevity.
As with all our garments, the Eliot is made by us in the UK, cut and assembled individually. With a wide range of fabrics available, this is a coat that can be tailored not only in fit, but also in character — from classic tweed to clean, Alpine-inspired Loden.
The Eliot represents a quiet alternative to technical outerwear — natural fibres, intelligent construction, and modern restraint, brought together in a coat designed to be worn for many years.
