The Kandahar is a luxury field jacket built from one of the finest natural outdoor fabrics ever produced: authentic Austrian Loden. Designed for serious weather protection while maintaining an elegant silhouette, it combines traditional alpine materials with careful English craftsmanship.

The outer cloth is the genuine 80% wool / 20% alpaca Loden produced by Leichtfried of Austria, one of the world’s most respected makers of authentic Loden fabric. This remarkable cloth has been used in alpine environments for more than a century, valued for its exceptional ability to resist wind, shed rain and retain warmth.

The combination of wool and alpaca provides a natural defence against harsh weather. The surface of the cloth gently brushes water away, while the exceptionally dense weave prevents moisture from penetrating. Any small amount of water absorbed into the fibres causes the weave to tighten further, improving its weather resistance. This is how genuine Loden works.

Many modern fabrics claim to replicate these qualities, but often rely on artificial membranes or coatings which compromise breathability. Authentic Loden achieves protection through the structure of the fibres themselves, keeping you warm and dry in a completely natural way.

Made by Us

Every Kandahar jacket is cut and made by us in our own workshop in England. Because we produce each garment ourselves, small alterations and personal modifications can usually be accommodated.
