The Geographer Waterproof Pure Cotton

The Geographer is a beautifully made waterproof pure cotton jacket that combines the clean practicality of a field jacket with the richness, character and comfort of premium natural-fibre cloth.

This style is made from a densely woven long-staple Egyptian cotton developed by Halley Stevensons of Dundee. In its unwaxed form, the fabric is naturally water repellent, breathable and machine washable, offering many of the benefits of a traditional waxed cotton jacket without the wax finish. For those who prefer a more classic treatment, the same jacket can also be ordered in waxed cotton.

Both the outer shell and the lining are constructed from this exceptional 2-ply cotton, creating a jacket with substance, durability and a reassuring sense of quality throughout. It is the kind of fabric that feels immediately superior in the hand and performs with quiet confidence in everyday British weather.

We source the cloth from Halley Stevensons, the renowned Scottish mill with over 150 years of expertise in outerwear fabrics, then bring it to Yorkshire where we cut and make each Geographer ourselves in our own workshop in York. This allows us to maintain close control over finish, fit and construction, while also giving customers the option of custom adjustments where required.

The Geographer is ideal for those who want a waterproof cotton jacket with a slightly cleaner, lower-maintenance character than traditional waxed outerwear, while still retaining the heritage appeal and rugged elegance of a classic British field jacket.

We also offer this style in double Ventile, as well as in a version with a Ventile outer and an extra-fine merino wool tweed lining.
