Traditional Motor Cycle Coat

The Traditional Motor Cycle Coat is a striking revival of a 1920s motorcycling classic, reworked as a luxurious winter coat with the weight, protection and character of true British-made outerwear.

The design was inspired by an original 1920s motor cycle coat sent to us for repair. Its appeal was immediate: a powerful, practical silhouette with a distinctive double-wrap front that gives the coat both exceptional weather protection and a strong, unmistakable presence. We have kept that spirit intact while making it with the premium materials and craftsmanship that define English Utopia.

The outer is made from exceptional 2-ply waxed cotton woven from long-staple, U.S.-grown cotton yarn and finished by Halley Stevensons of Scotland. This is a far superior cloth to the lower-cost materials more commonly used, chosen for its durability, weather resistance and rich handle. It gives the coat the substance and authority that a true motor coat should have.

The lining is made from the same high-quality 2-ply cotton in its unwaxed form, adding comfort, breathability and further protection while preserving the natural-fibre integrity of the garment. The result is a coat that feels reassuringly substantial, warm and snug in wear, especially thanks to its wrap-front construction, secured by a lapel buckle and belt.

For those who want even greater performance, this style is also available in a double Ventile version, and can be specified with Lavalan merino wool insulation for added warmth in colder conditions.

The coat is available in three lengths: knee length, mid-calf and full length. You may also specify your preferred exact length at checkout, allowing for a more personal and precise fit.
