The Sologne is a jacket shaped by history, place, and material. Its design is influenced by an original 1920s corduroy hunting jacket we acquired while in Paris — a period when sporting garments were built with purpose, durability, and understated elegance.

The name comes from the Sologne region, just south of Paris, an area long associated with hunting traditions and known for its forests, lakes, and outstanding natural beauty. This heritage is reflected in the jacket’s balanced proportions and practical, quietly confident character.

The jacket is made from what is widely regarded as the finest corduroy in the world, woven by Kindermann in Germany. Their corduroy is exceptional in both handle and longevity — rich in texture, soft to the touch, and remarkably durable. It wears beautifully, developing character over time rather than breaking down.

Inside, the jacket is lined with a two-ply cotton lining sourced from Halley Stevensons of Scotland. This lining adds strength and comfort while remaining breathable, making the Sologne comfortable across a wide range of conditions.

As with everything we produce, the jacket is made entirely by us in England, from cutting and assembly through to final finishing. Details are kept authentic and restrained, including real English horn buttons supplied by Courtney Buttons, a small family business in the Cotswolds whose buttons perfectly suit the jacket’s heritage character.

The result is a jacket that feels rooted rather than nostalgic — a modern interpretation of a classic hunting garment, made with exceptional materials and intended to be worn, relied upon, and enjoyed for many years.

Kindermann is widely regarded as one of the finest corduroy mills in the world. Woven in Germany using carefully selected cotton yarns, their corduroy is known for its dense structure, rich pile, and remarkable longevity.
